For many people Spring and Summer are seasons for allergies. Allergies, or allergic rhinitis, are due to an over-reactivity of the immune system to certain allergens. However, in Southern California it seems allergies are year round. When allergens and antibodies react in individuals with allergic rhinitis, their nasal mucosa becomes swollen and may obstruct drainage from the sinuses causing sinusitis in many people. Thus, sinus infections are a frequent complication and consequence of allergic rhinitis. Acupuncture and herbs have helped many allergy sufferers. Allergies are seen as acute attacks with an underlying deficiency in Chinese medicine. The root cause is always addressed when treating someone with allergies and therefore can provide long lasting results. Many people have relief for months to years without a reoccurrence.

The Western treatment of allergic rhinitis relies mostly on the use of antihistamine agents. Unfortunately, antihistamines only treat the manifestations of the disease and not the root. In addition, they cause side-effects such as dizziness, fatigue, insomnia, nervousness, dryness, and gastro-intestinal disturbance. Chinese medicine offers a comprehensive approach to the treatment of allergies. Don’t spend another allergy season with your Kleenex box and nasal sprays.

An integral part of Oriental Medicine is the use of Chinese herbs, which substantially aid in the restoration and maintenance of balance in the body.

Herbs, which include plants, flowers and minerals, are highly specific in their actions, and possess diverse qualities and properties, to target different aspects of a patient’s disharmony.

It should be noted that about 25% of prescription drugs in the United States contain at least one active ingredient derived from plants and 40% of pharmaceuticals are synthetic versions of herbs.

Herbal formulas are especially tailored to the individual needs of each patient and come in many forms, including herbal teas, pills, powders, or tinctures. Herbs rarely illicit side effects and can be taken in conjunction with modern medicine. However, because of the above mentioned pharmacology involved, it is best if they are prescribed by a licensed herbalist.

*Note: In the state of California, all Licensed Acupuncturist (L.Ac.) are licensed herbalists. The education requirements and licensure encompass both disciplines.

There is a great overlap between western herbs and Chinese herbs. Many of the common western herbs are also used in Chinese medicine. For example, astragalus (AKA “Huang Qi”) is native to China and been used there for centuries, whereas in the United States it gained popularity in the 1980’s. Both areas of the world have been using it to enhance immune function, prevent and treat common colds, prevent heart disease, and also as an adjunct therapy to cancer.

The difference between western herbalism and Chinese herbal medicine is the philosophy. Chinese medicine prefers herbal formulas where the herbs work together synergistically to treat various patterns of disease in the body and also treat the root cause of imbalance. Traditionally, western herbalism treats symptoms based on a single herb or remedy.

Many medical researchers in the United States and Europe suspect ancient remedies may also harbor new drugs. Government, industry, and academic research groups are zealously mining this potential source of pharmaceuticals, probing Chinese herbs for the chemical constituents that might one day yield new treatments for everything from asthma to AIDS.

However, proponents of traditional Chinese medicine say this fervor to isolate single compounds is misplaced. For us, the real benefits come from whole herbs and herbal extracts, since the chemicals in them purportedly work in conjunction with one another.

Vitamins and Supplements In this world of busy schedules it is nearly impossible to ensure all vitamins are accounted for through our diet. Vitamins and supplements are an essential addition to any healthy lifestyle.

Herbal Prescription Modern research shows that herbs contain vitamins, minerals, proteins, enzymes, and trace elements in natural balance that regulate the metabolism and immune functions.

Chinese Auricular Therapy
The practice of stimulating acupoints in the ear. By stimulating these points with “ear seeds” (small adhesive beads) it will send a signal to the brain which will create the sensation of fullness of appetite. Also, very effective in treating addictions.
The "How To" using the simple “plate method”© to control weight, blood sugar, and metabolism. No more counting calories or points. This method is what I created and use at UCLA and Kaiser Permanente’s weight loss programs and Diabetes Education classes.

•	Western nutrition focuses on the biochemical level of food and how to improve health through vitamins and supplements that may be deficient in one’s diet.

•	Chinese nutrition differs from Western nutrition in that it does not talk about the biochemical nature of food. Rather, Chinese nutrition deals on an energetic level to which balance is the key.
•	Foods are selected according to their energetic qualities such as: warming, cooling, drying, or lubricating.

•	For example, you may know someone who only eats salads and drinks diet coke, but still struggles with their weight. According to Chinese philosophy, they have an imbalance of cold raw foods which can lead to weight gain. To correct the imbalance, warming foods and herbs would be given.

•	It is proposed that acupuncture produces its effects through regulating the nervous system, thus aiding the activity of pain-killing biochemicals such as endorphins and immune system cells at specific sites in the body.

• In addition, studies have shown that acupuncture may alter brain chemistry by changing the release of neurotransmitters and neurohormones.

•	This affects the parts of the central nervous system related to sensation and involuntary body functions, such as immune reactions and processes that regulate a person's blood pressure, blood flow, and body temperature, and hormone secretion.15,16

•	Echinacea and goldenseal are often taken by people with chronic viral illnesses. These two herbs are meant to be used for acute, (not chronic viral illnesses) –at the beginning of a cold/flu.

• In addition, studies show that long term, high doses actually weaken the immune system rather than strengthen the immune system.

•	Finally, goldenseal can be toxic when taken for too long, since it is stored in the liver and not excreted.

*Therefore, consulting with a qualified practitioner is crucial in disease prevention and management.

Anti-Aging Treatment
Chinese medicine always treats the whole person. Anti-aging involves not only a skin analysis, but also a metabolic analysis as well. Facial acupuncture is a non surgical approach to:

•	reduce fine lines
•	combat sun damage
• sagging skin
• reduce puffiness
•	Reduce scar tissue from previous surgeries (can also be done on other parts of the body ie.,c-section scars)

This is achieved by clearing out toxins and boosting the metabolism. Acupoints are selected based on individual cases. In conjunction low-level electrical stimulation (microcurrent) and customized color light can provide a facial rejuvenation treatment that not only significantly improves the appearance of the face, but promotes good health and vibrant energy as well.

Our faces reveal the health and balance of our internal organs, energy and blood. A person with a healthy, glowing face has good internal energy balance. Conversely, organic weaknesses and dysfunctions show in the face through dark circles, pale or luster-less skin, blemishes, acne, excessive wrinkling and other signs. This connection between our skin and internal organs has been referred to as the “viscero-cutaneous reflex” by researcher Felix Mann
• Many cases also need an electric stimulator (e-stim) machine (painless high vibration technique) paired with appropriate acupoints to increase electrolipolysis.

•	A complete dietary plan can be implemented upon patient’s request.

Note: there are many reasons why someone can gain weight, Chinese medicine looks for root imbalances and does not just treat symptoms. Also, hormones play a crucial role in weight especially pertaining to women.

This subject encompasses a broad scope of practice which acupuncture and herbs have treated for thousands of years. Chinese medicine is helpful in treating:

•	PMS
•	Endometriosis
• Fibroids
•	Menopause (hot flashes, night sweats, irritability, etc)
• PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome)
• Insomnia
• Irregular periods
•	Emotional irregularities
•	Infertility

The focus is on the hormonal system and the timing of a women’s cycle. Certain hormones are elevated during different phases in a woman’s cycle and acupuncture and herbal treatments focus on regulating these hormones and nourishing them at the right time to achieve optimal balance.

For example, studies suggest PMS symptoms are due to progesterone deficiencies. Acupuncture and herbs are used to promote progesterone during the luteal phase of a women’s cycle. When this is achieved, PMS symptoms are alleviated and women have a cycle with less premenstrual discomfort. Chinese medicine treats the whole person, so physical symptoms improve, as well as emotional imbalances. The benefits: no PMS, without any side effects!!

87% of Americans suffer from gastrointestinal complaints (GI) ranging from:

•	Constipation
• Diarrhea
• Alternating constipation and diarrhea
•	Bloating after eating
• Acid reflux
•	Ulcers
• Irritable bowel syndrome

Acupuncture greatly alleviates many GI conditions. Points are selected on the body to decrease stomach acid, reduce inflammation, and regulate the intestines. Herbs are sometimes used to soothe the stomach lining, repair mucus membranes, and regulate the digestive tract.

The brain depends on a good night’s rest and the quality of one’s health can be greatly affected from continuous sleepless nights.
Many studies show that continuous sleep deprivation can lead to:

•	Hight blood pressure
• Increased cortisol levels
• Weight gain
• Increased risk for cardiovascular disease

The goal in treating insomnia in Chinese medicine is to bring balance back to the body.
After a complete intake and Chinese medical diagnosis is determined, the patient’s disharmony will be addressed. All aspects of a patient’s lifestyle are taken into consideration and acupuncture, herbs, dietary and lifestyle suggestions and/or combo of these therapies will be implemented.

Chinese medical treatment promotes sound sleep without drowsiness, addiction, and/or withdrawal.

There are 4 types of headaches:
•	Vascular
• Tension
• Traction
• Inflammatory

Migraines are the most popular vascular headache.

From a Chinese medical perspective, acupuncture is used to unblock the meridians which are blocked/congested causing the headache.
Diagnosis is based on the location of the headache and the pertaining organ system affected, rather than just the type. Results are usually immediate and the frequency of occurrence is greatly reduced with continuous visits.
Many patients are able to stop Western pain medication for their headaches.

If the root of the problem is addressed, more often than not, patients can have permanent relief from their headaches/migraines.

Acupuncture adjusts the way your body functions by affecting:

•	The nervous system
• The endocrine (hormone) system
• The cardiovascular system
• The immune system

For example, acupuncture stimulates the release of endorphins, such as serotonin, which make us feel good and elevate our mood. This is what many anti-depressant drugs aim to do. However, they come with their fair share of side effects.
This only addresses the physical level of depression/anxiety. However, the emotional and mental levels also need attention.

Chinese medicine is perhaps one of the foremost therapeutic avenues that invites nature to assist in the rebalancing of the human organism. Since humankind functions on so many levels, from spiritual, to physical, to emotional, each of these strata need be addressed. The somewhat magical art of Traditional Chinese Medicine works beautifully at uniting body-mind-spirit, so that harmony may again be achieved (Schnieder-Guild).

Acupuncture, herbs, diet and lifestyle suggestions can be used to help with depression and/or calm someone suffering from anxiety.

Acupuncture is most famous in the United States for pain control and the National Institute of Health recognizes the benefits of acupuncture in treating a variety of pain disorders including but not limited to:

•	Joint problems, arthritis
•	Sprains, strains, musculo-tendonitis, carpal tunnel syndrome
•	Bell’s Palsy, trigeminal neuralgia, TMJ
•	Low back pain, sciatica
•	Post-operative recovery, reduction of scar tissue, speed healing time

Acupuncture adjusts the way your body functions by affecting:
1.	the nervous system
2. the endocrine (hormone) system
3. the cardiovascular system
4. the immune system

For example, acupuncture stimulates the release of chemicals created naturally in the body that reduce pain. Electro-acupuncture has been shown elevate healing substances such as Adenosine 5’-triphosphate (ATP) by 5 times. This affords your body greater cellular currency to repair following injury, a disease processes, or surgery. (A.Cabrinha).

Ah, it’s summer time!! The sun, the water, and long days bring us back to nature as we spend more time outside enjoying the weather with friends and family. It’s a time of year when skin is exposed and a balancing act occurs between protecting our skin from sun damage, while showing off that healthy glow. Many Americans are looking to the East for natural face and skin regimens to maintain that youthful appearance.

Acupuncture Gets A Make Over: Is Facial Rejuvenation For You?

Looking for an alternative to Botox or surgery to erase signs of aging? More and more people are turning to cosmetic acupuncture in lieu of more invasive techniques. This ancient technique has been used for thousands of years for common health complaints like allergies, back pain and headaches. Modern times keep shaping this ancient practice, and now many acupuncture patients are using it to enhance their appearance. In fact, acupuncture for facial rejuvenation is not a new concept. The Chinese have always believed that one’s outer appearance is a reflection of her inner state of health. One very important element of Oriental medicine is Facial Diagnosis. The way the face ages, where the lines and wrinkles form and the texture and color of the skin can reveal the health, temperament, diet, and emotional and spiritual state of the person.

What is cosmetic acupuncture?

Cosmetic acupuncture is a technique that falls within an acupuncturist’s broad scope of Traditional Oriental Medicine, the cornerstone of which is to treat the root cause of illness and not just symptoms. Treating one’s appearance is in many ways no different than treating a patient for allergies or migraines. The acupuncturist takes a thorough initial intake and uses traditional diagnostic tools like “listening” to the pulse and looking at the tongue to arrive at a proper diagnosis. When focusing on the skin, the acupuncturist will hone in on the areas of one’s medical history and lifestyle that contribute to accelerated aging. Dr. Lopes notices that stress reduction, hormonal balance and better digestion are common goals of her patients’ cosmetic acupuncture program because these factors readily show up on the skin. Cosmetic acupuncture is for the patient who is ready to feel good in their skin and is willing to make changes for whole body wellness. Some patients who have already had cosmetic surgery or injections will continue to support their appearance with acupuncture.

Dr. Lopes offers two types of facial acupuncture:

1). The traditional method which uses very fine needles and a few body points to create a balance in the body, OR

2). A non-needle approach using a microcurrent machine which incorporates light and color therapy with the addition of custom prescribed gemstones to provide a one-of –a-kind rejuvenation treatment that meets your specific needs. The actual technique used is called “Acugems Facial Rejuve” which Dr. Lopes is certified in this new facial technique.

How does it work?

Whether you call it facial rejuvenation or cosmetic acupuncture, the goal is to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, calm the effects of stress on the face, reduce puffiness and bring a natural glow to the skin. In addition to clearing up internal health problems that are expressed on the skin, acupuncture needling causes local micro-trauma that stimulates fibroblasts, the cells that form collagen and elastin fibers. Herbal treatment may also be prescribed to clear up conditions like acne and rosacea.

Treatments encourage:

Collagen production

Smooth fine lines and wrinkles

Firm skin tone •	Improve skin texture

Tightens skin

Plumps up skin

Minimize puffiness

*Without surgery, redness, flaking, or discomfort

To learn more about this treatment please visit:

Dr. Lopes will offer an open house at Lotus 7 Yoga Studio on:

Friday, June 20 at 11:45am

“What happens to a dream deferred? Does it dry up – like a raisin in the sun? Or fester like a sore – And then run? Does it stink like rotten meat? Or crust and sugar over – like a syrupy sweet? Maybe it just sags – like a heavy lead” -- Langston Hughes

This is a quote from one of my favorite childhood novels, “A Raisin in the Sun”. The impact of this quote propelled me to seek out my passion and persevere in the face of challenges. Achieving a goal is never an easy road, but the alternative is much worse. Furthermore, when passion is non-existent in any aspect of a person’s life, their spirit is sick - Much like the physical body when we are facing an illness.

The Mind-Body-Spirit connection is very real and important to our health. From a medical perspective this connection can be seen through the “placebo effect”. A person can physically make their symptoms improve if they “believe” they are doing/taking something to help their physical body. There are many interesting works published by MD’s and psychologist linking diseases to certain emotions and thoughts generated by the person. The Chinese have believed this for thousands of years.

In Chinese Medicine there are five major organ systems. Each organ system correlates with an emotion. If someone experiences a particular emotion for too long or too intense it will directly affect the pertaining organ system. A recent example is Christopher Reeve’s wife dying of lung cancer. Many people couldn’t believe it, she never smoked a day in her life, nor was she exposed to second hand smoke. However, according to Chinese medicine it was very clear. The Lung system is affected by grief and worry. Mrs. Reeves had dealt with much grief over her husband’s injury, recovery, and death, not to mention the stress and worry in dealing with their situation. Unresolved emotions result in physical consequences in the body. Conversely, a physical condition can heighten certain emotions pertaining to that organ system. I have a patient with this exact phenomenon. My patient contracted Hepatitis C from his job. According to Chinese medicine and Western medicine this relates to the Liver system. About 3 months after being diagnosed he noticed he was losing his temper easily, felt constantly agitated and irritable and had to restrain himself with strangers and co-workers. This was not the norm for this previous easy-going fellow. In Chinese medicine, the liver system correlates to the emotions of anger and resentment. He first contracted the physical disease which led to emotional consequences.

Acupuncture is a way to deal with emotions on a physical level by opening up bio-electrical gateways to the body through specific points connected on meridian pathways. Many patients seek acupuncture for physical ailments such as: pain, digestive complaints, allergies, etc. However, the most powerful benefit is its ability to process emotions in the body to create a physical, mental, and emotional balance. To enable your spirit to guide you in your life’s passion, you must be in balance on all three levels

Treatments include Engystol and Gripp-Heel- two powerful anti-viral homeopathic remedies that strengthen each preventative acupuncture treatment*.

This protocol can be used instead of your traditional flu shot, or in addition to it, to increase your chances of staying healthy this cold and flu season. The acupuncture flu "shot" is not a shot at all-the needles are much too thin! Six acupuncture points are selected on the arms and legs and the treatment takes only a half hour.

Acupuncture Flu Shot treatments are only $65. Add this protocol for only $8 to an ongoing treatment for a specific health problem.

Start now! Recommended protocol is once monthly treatments from October through March.

*Studies show that the combination of Engystol and Gripp-Heel can increase the fighting capabilities of white blood cells by 41%

Nutritional Causes of Depression

Frequent consumption of caffeine or sucrose (table sugar)

B vitamins deficiencies (biotin, folic acid, thiamine, B6, B2, or B12)

Deficiencies of vitamin C

Mineral deficiencies including calcium, copper, iron, magnesium or potassium

Excesses of magnesium or vanadium

Food allergies or sensitivities

Preservatives, dyes, additives and heavily processed foods

Foods to AVOID When Depressed

Refined and simple sugar (white sugar, honey, fructose, maple syrup, etc). These deplete your body of B vitamins. They also increase hypoglycemia linked to mood swings and depression.

Heavily processed foods with additives and preservatives – These foods deplete the nutrients needed for metabolism.

Foods high in saturated fats - These fats cause poor circulation to the brain, inhibiting the synthesis of neurotransmitters.

Very high protein diets – Excess protein tends to decrease brain uptake of tryptophan, a very important amino acid. (However protein is important in the diet, especially for those with depression. The diets referred to here are those that are very high in protein above all else.)

Foods which you are sensitive or allergic to –These foods can be rotated in and out of the diet or eliminated all together.

Caffeine, nicotine and alcohol –Eliminate them all together if possible.

Simple Carbohydrates – Breads, pasta and other foods high in carbohydrates can lead to fatigue.

Aspartame, Nutrasweet and all artificial sweetners – Nutrasweet increases Central Nervous System tyrosine and phenylalanine, decreasing tryptophan availability. This leads to an increase in serotonin levels.

Foods to EAT When Depressed

Foods high in B1. B1 is essential for energy production, nerve cell function and carbohydrate metabolism. Good sources of B1 include soybeans, brown rice, sunflower seeds, wholes wheat and Brewer’s yeast.

Foods high in B6 – B6 is important in maintaining hormone balance, immune function and is involved in the formation and use of neurotransmitters. Good sources of B6 include Brewer’s yeast, whole grains, legumes, bananas, seeds, nuts, potatoes, Brussels sprouts and cauliflowers.

Foods high in Folate and B12 – Folate & B12 deficiency tend to decrease SAMe levels which is associated with depression. Good sources of folate and B12 include Brewer’s yeast, green leafy vegetables, low fat dairy and whole grains. Supplementation with folate and B12 can also increase serotonin levels.

Foods high in Vitamin C – Vitamin C increases immune functions and is important to the production of neurotransmitter production. Good sources of Vitamin C can be found in kale, parsley, collard greens, turnips, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, red chili peppers, mustard greens, fresh fruits including kiwi, strawberries and citrus of all kinds.

Foods high in Amino Acids –Tryptophan is a precursor to serotonin and melatonin. Tyrosine is a precursor to norepinephine and may stimulate thyroid hormone synthesis. Good sources of foods rich in amino acids include eggs, low fat dairy and meats. Choose organic and minimally processed.

Essential Fatty Acids (EFA)– Numerous studies have found that low levels of essential fatty acids can lead to depression. Good sources of EFA’s include flax seed oil, borage seed oil, pumpkin seeds and cold-water fish such as salmon, tuna, cod and sardines. Supplementation can also be helpful. Choose a supplement with EPA, DHA,GLA and Vitamin E (a natural preservative) Refrigerate to decrease chances of spoilage.

Other helpful foods – Garlic, Lecithin (good "brain" food), beans, pods, raw fruits and vegetables and tofu (if not sensitive to it).

Other helpful tips

Eat regularly – Sometimes it’s difficult to eat when depressed. However starving the body of food can increase depression. Consider purchasing protein powder and mix up a drink if you just can’t eat or eat easily prepared foods like nuts or soups.

Buy organic whenever possible to decrease exposure to harmful herbicides, pesticides and other contaminants.

Drink plenty of water each day – at least 8 full 8 oz glasses or more. Water is essential for energy and brain / body functioning.

Create a relaxed atmosphere to eat in. Stress decreases our body’s ability to metabolize our food.

Pay attention to how you feel after eating. If you feel tired, fatigued, confused or notice other symptoms, you may have a food sensitivity or allergy. Keep track of these symptoms and seek out professional guidance.

Certain medications such as oral contraceptives, corticosteroids and others can cause depression. Consult your doctor before discontinuing medications.

Back by popular demand, this article focuses on essential oils and their benefits both physically and emotionally. Many clients commented on last month’s article which featured essential oils for emotional issues and how good Lotus 7 smells when they walk in….one form of essential oil administration…via the aroma.

Essential oils are the pure botanical essences of plants – complex mixtures of naturally occurring compounds that play a number of vital roles in plant life. Due to their concentrated nature, essential oils are more drug like than herbal decoctions and tinctures- therefore, making them very a very effective treatment modality. Essential oils act upon us both through our sense of smell, by absorption through the skin, and internal use (mostly used in Europe) to support the wellness of body, mind and spirit.

The aroma method has been very welcomed in the studio that I have decided to incorporate them into a treatment for all the yogis via absorption. I want to combine the energetic properties of acupuncture points with the therapeutic benefits of essential oils. Aha…”Essential Oil Acupressure”

I recently completed a certification course from a British doctor using essential oils clinically. He integrates oils into his practice by placing a drop of an oil on a small round band-aid on specific acupuncture points and leaving it there doing the treatment. In order to enhance one’s yoga practice, specific oils can be selected by my diagnosis and placed on acupuncture points with a band-aid to wear doing your yoga class. The oils work therapeutically via absorption and can help with physical symptoms such as : colds, bronchitis, inflammation, sore muscles, hormonal imbalances as well as emotional issues: depression, anxiety, mental fogginess, irritability, enhancing intuition, mental clarity, etc.

For those interested in trying this new therapy, a five minute diagnosis questionnaire can be filled out before your yoga/pilates class and I will diagnostically select the appropriate oils/oil blend for your symptoms/constitution based on Chinese five element theory. They will be secured with a band-aid while in class and then removed afterwards. Yoga is excellent for opening up the Chinese energetic meridians/chakras and the oils combined with the acupoints will only enhance their work!!

To enable your spirit to guide you in your life’s passion, you must be in balance on all three levels.

Plants not only play a vital role in the ecological balance of our planet, but they have also been intimately linked to the physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being of people since the beginning of time.
As the most powerful part of the plant, essential oils and plant extracts have been used medicinally to kill bacteria, fungi, and viruses. They provide exquisite fragrances to balance mood, lift spirits, dispel negative emotions, and create a romantic atmosphere. They can stimulate the regeneration of tissue or stimulate nerves. They can even act to oxygenate and carry nutrients into the cells.

Below is a list of single oils used for emotional imbalances. Note: the quality of an essential oil is very important. Oils should not be mixed with other ingredients (except other essential oils, in the case of blends). This increases rancidity and the therapeutic effects are diminished.
* Dr. Lopes will be offering custom blends for specific conditions at Louts 7!

The New Year – a time for reflection, renewal and rejuvenation. A perfect time to clean out our bodies after indulging in all the holiday foods and drinks and start afresh!
We are constantly exposed to numerous toxic substances even without knowing it. Our body has to defend itself against environmental toxins, residues of poor nutrition and drugs, viruses and bacteria as well as toxic metabolites produced by the body’s normal metabolism. Many diseases such as cancer, arthritis, allergies, and endocrine imbalances rely on the slow down of the body to eliminate and manage toxins.

What are the major organs for Drainage and Detoxification?
• Lymphatic System
• Liver
• Kidneys
• Bowels
• Skin
• Lungs
When should I start a Drainage and Detoxification therapy?
A drainage and detoxification therapy is recommended at least twice a year.
If your body is toxic, it may give you various warning signals or symptoms.
These are some of the symptoms:
• Allergies (e.g. to foods, chemicals, pollen, dust, or others)
• Joint pain
• Asthma
• Fatigue
• Digestion problems, heart burn, indigestion, constipation
• Insomnia or frequent mood swings
• Weight gain
• Skin problems like rashes, eczema, or others

How can I support my detoxification therapy?
Here are useful tips for a healthy lifestyle:
• Drink a minimum of 32 oz. of water a day
• Reduce stress or learn how to deal with it better (e.g. YOGA, Acupuncture, Meditate!)
• Have a nutritionally balanced diet (proteins, carbohydrates, healthy fats, fresh vegetables and fruit) and make sure that you are getting a sufficient amount of dietary fibers, vitamins and minerals each day
• Avoid processed foods and fast foods as much as possible
